Air Velocity Meter

An air velocity meter is a common instrument used by AC service technicians.In their service calls AC service techs need to check air flow speed and volume in order to find out if an AC system is working correctly.

Air velocity testers come in a few different forms:

All of these measure air velocity either at an outlet of a grille or inside a ventilation duct.Some of them can also measure humidity. The most simple instruments just measure air velocity, and more advanced devices use internal software to calculate CFM (cubic feet per minute), or CMM output.Such a measurement tells an AC technician, if he or she needs to open or close dampers in the ventilation system.
