Traces Wires
This works as advertised. Not the most complicated device, which it doesnt need to be! You can trace wires located in walls without much hastle. Great for the home user like myself.

Step up
This is a great little unit for making that step up from basic tone and probe. The signal is stronger and makes location of various wires much more accurate. Saves you the time and money of having to cut out a wall to locate wires. Recommend.

This Tracer has done everything I need.
I have used this product, using all the attachments and in every concievable manner possible and it has worked without fail. If I had a failure it was because the hookup and not the operation of the tool. I have also used some of the other Amprobe tracers and Test Equipment and all have performed great.

Nice, when it worked.
The AT-1000 worked well for me until problems developed. First, I would suggest avoiding any of Amprobe's testers that feature the supposedly convenient drop-in battery compartment feature . It has a poor contact design that became intermittent in the receiver over time. Since it was out of warranty at that point, I disassembled it to discover one of very fine wires connecting the battery contacts was broken off, and the other broke while I was fixing the first one! Then it developed a second problem where the receiver sensitivity became intermittent. At this point I decided to send it in for service, but discovered the fee to repair and recalibrate the unit was going to cost MORE than a new set sells for. Until I get around to taking a stab at fixing it myself, it sits on the shelf gathering dust. Too bad; I like Amprobe products, but this situation is both economically and environmentally disappointing. It also makes me hesitant to purchase a new tracer from them if they can't fix their products.
