The Amprobe RLD-1 uses a semiconductor sensor which is extremely sensitive to a variety of halogenated refrigerants. The RLD-1 refrigerant leak detector will precisely pinpoint the location of a leak for a variety of refrigerants in air conditioning systems.
Key Features:
- Sensitivity to halogenated refrigerants R-134a, R404A, R-410A, R-22 Freon etc.
- Audio and visual indication
- Accuracy with semiconductor gas sensor
- High-medium-low sensitivity selector
- Automatic zero and background compensation
The HVAC leak detector can be used to detect halogenated refrigerants such as R-134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, and Freon. The leak detector has a high-medium-low sensitivity selector to choose from when locating a leak. The sensitivity to a refrigerant will depend on which level you choose. For example, for refrigerants R-22 and 134a it has a sensitivity of 3g/ year (0.10 oz.) on high to 30 g/year (1.06 oz.) on low sensitivity. Refrigerants R-404A, 407C and 410A have a sensitivity of 4g/ year (0.14 oz.) on high and 40g/ year (1.41 oz.) on low sensitivity.
The refrigerant leak detector provides clear leak indication with an audio alarm and a tri-colored visual LED display. The RLD-1 has a built-in suction pump that cleans the sensor to provide a quicker response time in the leak detection process. The leak detector also has an automatic ambient reset function that allows the unit to ignore the ambient concentrations of refrigerant as well as a reset button to help the technician hone in on the actual leak.
Amprobe has also included a leak source bottle to verify the unit is in working order. When the probe is close to the leak source bottle, the detector should indicate a leak when on the high and low sensitivity settings.
The A/C leak detector has a 15.5” (40cm) flexible stainless probe for hard to reach places. The unit is operated by 2 “C” size batteries and has a low battery indicator. In addition, the leak detector will auto power off after 10 minutes. The auto power off function can be disable if desired.
Amprobe RLD-1 includes:

- 2 “C” batteries
- Leak check bottle
- User manual
- AC adapter
