Excelent Meter, a real work horse
Over the years I have purchased three of this type Amprobe meter for my airconditioning repair company. The only failure I have ever experenced with one of these (in the 20+ years I have used them) was when I dropped one from a 20 foot ladder. I never repaired that one as it was badly damage but simply bought another, I also own the test leads, case and line splitter for each of them and Although now retired these are still being used for around the house repairs.

There are some times when an analog meter works better then a digital.
I use a analog meter for working with street lighting. I can follow a fault on a cable with the analog meter when a digital meter won't show the spike in the circuit before the circuit breaker trips. If I pass the fault the meter shows nothing. Going from the source of power to the faulted area the meter will show a spike. I still have several of the black RS-3's in my tool bag and still use them.

Highest recommendations
When I first got into the HVAC trade, my parents bought me an Amprobe clamp on analog ammeter. A few years later, it was stolen. I replaced it with another Amprobe analog. Those that say you need to interpret the readings don't know how to use a meter. This meter is easy to use and reliable. Also, you don't have to worry about the cold or extreme heat affecting the display or the batteries. Great product! Keep up the good work Amprobe!

Digital Products are replacing Analog Units
I would put my tool investment into a digital product with a more viersitale clamp probe or rope. This unit will perform for you based on your ability to interpuit the scale. I would say analog meters are becoming sepciality units.

This probe in my opinion one of the best
I am a long time user of Amprobe products. The ease of use of there meters is one of the main reasons I use them. My first meter was the the RS-3 which I still own and use to this day. I would definitely recommend any of there products to others. Any tool that lasts 25+ years is worth owning.
