Overview

The H 10 Pro refrigerant leak detector sensor uses positive ion emission technology, commonly known as a heated diode. The sensor is extremely sensitive to Freon substances like refrigerants making it highly resistive to false alarming while retaining superior sensitivity for pinpointing the most difficult to find refrigerant leaks.

The pump inside the refrigerant leak detector draws air through the probe to the sensor. The presence of refrigerant(s) causes the Bacharach H-10 Pro leak detector to emit both an audible alert and a visual indication with a flashing LED in the probe tip.

Sensitivity to pinpoint small, medium, and large leaks can be controlled by setting the Leak Size switch. The leak detector also has automatic re-calibration in areas where there is a large amount of refrigerant. This is extremely useful if you are in a cramped space and there is a decently sized leak. The Bacharach H-10 Pro universal refrigerant leak detector recognizes the ambient air and adjusts accordingly to give you the ability to hone in on the higher concentrated pockets of refrigerant.

The Leak Size switch has three settings:

Small – is for the highest sensitivity, which will indicate leak rates of 0.006 oz/year or greater for HFC gases like R134a.
Medium – is used for Chlorine-based (CFC and HCFC) gases like R12 and R22. This setting will indicate a leak rate of approximately 0.1 oz./year or greater and is useful for locating larger HFC leaks.
Large – is used to zero in on large leaks of any refrigerant. The large leak setting should be used in conjunction with manual mode.

The Bacharach H-10 has both an Auto and Manual Mode.

The Auto Mode enables the Bacharach H-10 Pro refrigerant leak detector to block out background levels of refrigerants. This greatly reduces and /or eliminates false alarms while retaining sensitivity to quickly locate small or medium size leaks. Pinpointing in this mode requires continuous probe movement.
In Manual Mode the auto-zero circuit is disabled and will not zero the leak if the probe is held over the leak site. The manual mode may require more frequent readjustment of the Manual Balance control, but provides greater sensitivity than Auto Mode.

The H-10 Pro refrigerant leak detector is ultra-sensitive and can detect leaks as small as 0.006 oz/year and the 54 inches (4.5 feet) extra-long probe makes it easier to detect leaks in those hard to reach areas or tight spaces.

The Bacharach H-10 heated diode sensor technology has a wide range of applications and is very popular among automotive AC technicians due to the prevalence of really small leaks found on many cars.

The H-10 Pro leak detector is also great for finding leaks in food and beverage production that can eliminate more costly repairs and downtime. The unit is light enough to carry around and includes a shoulder strap for added convenience.

In addition, the refrigerant leak detector has dual power options, the battery option for best mobility or wall power for uninterrupted usage. The leak detector can operate on battery power for about 3 hours on a full charge.

Bacharach offers a 3 year warranty on this refrigerant leak detector and a 1 year warranty for the battery and sensor. The H-10 sensor is rated to have a typical life of roughly 1 year.

auto zero a big plus

This is an expensive sniffer, but extremely accurate. I like that auto zero function, as it speeds up work and helps detect leaks. The small probe on at the end of rubber hose is very handy, because you can insert it into hard to get area, when a goose-neck probes on other sniffers don't work. It does work for me very well.

Pricey

Comparing this leak detector to other detectors, this detector is a lot more expensive. However, I believe that it's worth the investment and it even comes with a 3 year warranty.

sensitive it is

I had many sniffers before but this h-10 is really sensitive. Why do I like it? It does help to find very small leaks before they become big and expensive problems. Great refrigerant detector for serious pros.

very unique detector

Being an automotive tech i run into a lot of really small leaks. It was always hit or miss being able to track down leaks in an ac system. This thing has been a godsend for me. While there was a bit of sticker shock compared to normal units you cant compare them with the sensitivity this thing has.

One of the best

I've had a number of different hand held leak detectors over the years but the H-10 has proven itself to be the best of them all I've ever owned. The sensitivity, adjustability, speed of response and overall performance of the H-10 is simply way ahead of any other detector I've used in the past.

refrigeration tech best friend

It is my best friend, as it is super accurate, and has longer probe than other similar products. I also like direct dc power connect for continuous operation, something other leak detectors don't have.
