Fieldpiece SRL8 Heated Diode HVAC Refrigerant Leak Detector

The Fieldpiece SRL8 is an ergonomic ruggedly built refrigerant leak detector that uses a heated diode sensor to detect all CFCs, HFCs, and HCFCs refrigerants consistently and accurately. Service technicians working with residential and commercial HVAC/R systems as well as automotive technicians will find this leak detector ideal to locate refrigerant leaks quickly and efficiently.

After a quick 30 seconds self-calibrating warm-up to ensure optimal performance, the Fieldpiece leak detector SRL8 is ready to find leaks as small as 0.1 oz. / year. The SRL8 heated diode refrigerant leak detector has three levels of sensitivity ranging from 0.1 oz. / year to 6.6 oz. / year and the sensitivity level is easily adjusted by pushing the L/M/H button on the keypad. When the sensor detects the presence of gas, the instrument’s LED bar graph will light up changing from green to yellow to red indicating a higher refrigerant concentration and will also emit an audible alert which can be muted.

The Fieldpiece SRL8 refrigerant leak detector has both manual and automatic zeroing to help pinpoint the leak source. The auto zeroing occurs every two seconds until a high refrigerant concentration triggers the sensor at which point you can use the manual zeroing to hone in on the source of a refrigerant leak.

The leak detector’s filter system is designed to protect the sensor from moisture and other contaminants. The sensor is located close to the instrument’s body while the filter is located at the end of the 16.5” flexible probe. If you accidentally hit some condensation or oil while scanning for leaks, the filter swells, shutting off the pull to the sensor protecting it from failure.

The refrigerant detector’s 15 hour rechargeable Lithium Ion battery will give the technician almost two days of leak locating before needing to be recharged. The LOW-BATT LED will light red when the battery is low.

The included flexible and needle extensions can be handy when a technician needs to reach into tight space such as through a condenser grill to check for leaks.
