Overview
The Flir E5-XT is designed with excellent thermal resolution of 120 x 160 yielding 19,200 pixels and a thermal sensitivity of <100mK for viewing crisp images, as well as a speedy 9Hz refresh rate to improve your ability to diagnose problems. The image quality is further improved by MSX (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging) technology, which etches visible image details onto thermographic images, hence enhancing visibility and identification of problem areas.
What is MSX?
Flir MSX (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging) is a unique feature in Flir thermal cameras that enhances the clarity of your thermal images by increasing the visual details in real time. MSX does not dilute the thermal image or decrease thermal transparency, but actually achieves this by taking two images simultaneously, one with the built in digital camera and one with the thermal camera. Flir’s built in software selects key visible image elements such as outlines, words, numbers, and other high contrast edge details and adds them to the thermal image. This provides the image with definition and makes it easier to identify what you are looking at. These reference details help for later clarification when saving an image for a report or when talking with a customer to help identify where the image was taken and the location of any problems. MSX can be turned on or off when using the thermal imager. The thermal image and a digital image are both saved, so the radiometric (temperature measurement) data remains un-compromised.
The Flir thermal imager comes with many professional features, such as hot/cold spot measurement, accurate measurement of your target using center spot or max/min area box, and picture-in-picture to clarify problem locations and enhance documentation. The Flir infrared camera stores fully radiometric JPEG images with all temperature data within the thermal image, and also transmits them via Wi-Fi to smart phones or tablets. The Flir Tools app allows for creating and sharing professional reports.
The E5-XT infrared camera’s operation is intuitive, fully automatic and focus free. You can operate it with one hand using the simple button control to take pictures, navigate on-screen settings as well as adjust the measurement tools.
The infrared camera is rugged with an IP54 enclosure easily able to withstand a 6 feet drop, as well as lightweight, as it weighs a little over one pound.
Flir e5-XT thermal imager is a clear winner, whenever it comes to employing thermal imaging technology for preventive maintenance purposes, either electrical, heating or cooling, mechanical or building related issues.
