The Inficon 712-202-G1 D-TEK Select HVAC Refrigerant Leak Detector has an infrared absorption sensing cell that is exceptionally sensitive to all refrigerants. The Inficon D-TEK is sensitive to all refrigerants, including R22, R134A, R404A, R410A, R507 (AZ50), HFO1234yf, and all CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs. This infrared refrigerant leak detector, with a sensitivity of 0.10 ounces / year (3 g/a), will be able to narrow down and find even the smallest of leaks. In addition, the unit will not be harmed or overwhelmed by large quantities of refrigerant in a small concentrated area.
Inficon’s IR cell is the only field replaceable IR sensor in the industry. The sensor is easily accessible and installing a new IR sensor can be done in minutes. The filter in the D-TEK select is the most robust in the industry at blocking contaminants from entering the detector. Its hydrophobic design prevents water, oil, or other liquids from damaging the sensor.
The infrared detectors have some advantages over the heated diode detectors as the sensors last longer and are less susceptible to false positives from other gasses and maintain greater accuracy for a larger range of refrigerants.
Infrared leak detectors work by pulling air through an optical window on the sensor. Refrigerant gases absorb IR radiation. The optical sensor senses this and triggers an alarm, depending on how much IR has been absorbed. This technology is very accurate and because the sensor does not come in contact with the refrigerant the sensor isn’t subject to contamination. This is why IR sensors provide a life expectancy of over 1000 hours.
