Inficon D-TEK CO2 is a reliable, highly sensitive, cordless refrigerant leak detector that uses an innovative infrared absorption sensing cell that is specifically designed to detect carbon dioxide, the next generation refrigerant. Some refrigeration systems are using carbon dioxide as a refrigerant because of its low impact on the environment. However, standard leak detectors will not detect CO2 leaks, therefore a service technician will need to use a leak detector specifically designed for CO2. This CO2 refrigerant detector has a sensitivity of 0.18 oz/year (5 g/year) for R744 (CO2). The D-TEK CO2 uses a field replaceable infrared sensing cell that is extremely selective to carbon dioxide. A technician can get consistent, accurate, and reliable results as the specialized infrared cell does not weaken over time and has a lifespan of approximately 1000 hours.
The CO2 detector is extremely sensitive to carbon dioxide, but its circuitry allows the instrument to equalize to the CO2 present in the atmosphere, so there is minimal risk of false alarms. In addition, the CO2 detector has an automatic and manual zero mode to help reduce false alarms in areas of high CO2 levels. A technician can be confident in the D-TEK’s ability to detect carbon dioxide as it will not react to smoke, humidity, airflow or temperature changes.
