Combustible gas leaks can occur due to a variety of reasons such as loose or aged seals or connections, fittings, poor welding techniques, pinhole defects, or rusting. The detection of these gas leaks is important for safety and health reasons as well as financially. A gas leak detector is an essential tool for HVAC professionals or other tradesmen who install or maintain water heaters, boilers, gas stoves, or other appliances that are fueled by gas.
The Klein Tools ET120 combustible gas leak detector includes two sensitivity ranges: high from 50 to 1,000 ppm and low from 1000 to 10,000 ppm for better leak detection. Normally, a tech uses the high range setting to find out if there are any leaks in an area and then switches to low to pin-point the leak source.
The combustible gas leak detector Klein Tools ET120 warns of a gas leak in two ways: audible alert at 85 dB and a bar meter with 5 red LED lights that light up and blink. The intensity of the audible alert and the number of lights blinking increases as gas concentration goes up.
Automatic zero-point calibration is another very useful feature included on the Klein ET120 gas leak detector, as it allows the instrument to calibrate to zero ppm, before one starts to use it. Zeroing out is a very important function to eliminate any false reading when detecting leaks.
The extra-long gooseneck (18 inches) can easily reach into difficult locations to check for leaks. The auto power-off is another useful feature, as it helps extend battery life. How many times do we forget to turn an instrument off and end up draining the batteries? Klein Tools ET120 has this covered with the auto-power off feature.
Additional features on the ET120 Klein Tools include an over-molded body for a comfortable grip, a mute button to silence the audible alarm, and a clip to hold the gooseneck for easy storage.
