The TP500C is battery-powered and consists of a main unit and a self-stored remote. Testing for shorts and other cable issues can be found by plugging one end of your cable into the main unit and the other end of the cable into the remote unit. The auto-on feature will initiate when the unit senses a connection between the main unit and the remote unit. The cable tester will automatically power off within 5 seconds of the cable being disconnected.
By using the LED indicators on the main and remote units, a technician can quickly and easily test the cable. The ON light indicates a good pair, an OFF light indicates an open pair and a Flashing light indicates a bad pair. In addition, the TP500C has a debug mode that will diagnose and display faults one pair at a time to quickly determine which pairs have a problem and what is the problem. A technician can quickly and easily get the cable test results by using the LED indicators on the main and remote units.
