Perfect for reading moisture content in wood, drywall, and roofing materials, this dual-depth moisture and humidity meter is the ideal instrument for building and home inspection. In addition, this meter boasts a built-in hygrometer and infrared surface thermometer essential for moisture inspection and restoration industries.
By non-destructively measuring the electrical impedance within various building materials, including drywall, roofing, plaster, tile, and masonry, this moisture encounter meter detects and evaluates moisture conditions for numerous applications. A low-frequency electronic signal is transmitted into the material via the electrodes in this meter's base. Furthermore, the strength of this signal varies in proportion to the amount of moisture in the material under test, allowing this meter to determine the strength of the current and convert it to a moisture content value.
Features
Dual-depth measuring range
Featuring a dual-depth measuring range, this moisture and humidity meter has deep depth penetration of up to 1¼" (30 mm) and shallow depth penetration of up to ⅜" (9 mm). These dual depth readings of surface and core moisture can be compared to eliminate the influence of the substrate when testing coverings.
This pinless moisture meter measures moisture content percentage of wood from 0 to 30%. This meter can be expanded with the use of pin probes for wood, wood by-products, and drywall, as well as relative humidity sensor probes for evaluating ambient conditions.
All moisture and humidity readings can be visualized and geotagged with the Tramex Meters App and turned into moisture maps, reports, and charts for easier, more streamlined sharing.
Psychometrics mode
This meter uses its built-in hygrometer to measure the ambient relative humidity (RH), ambient temperature (Ta), dew point temperature (Td), and humidity ratio (HR GPP, g/kg) of the environment. These measurements are displayed at the bottom of the screen for each mode or scale in use.
In psychometrics mode, the DELTA temperature value (difference between ambient and dew point temperature), the surface temperature, and the enthalpy value (heat content in the air) can also be viewed. Plug-in in-situ equilibrium RH probes are available for psychometric values within building materials like concrete, wall and floor cavities, and insulation.
Wood pin-probe mode
By plugging in the optional handheld or hammer probes (sold separately), this moisture encounter meter becomes a resistance-type meter and measures the percentage moisture content (%MC) of wood. International wood standards or preprogrammed wood are selectable options, and wood temperature correction can be automatically calculated. Pin probe mode is also effective for drywall %MC and WME (wood moisture equivalent) readings for other materials.

Uses
Applications
Range from approximately 6.5 to approximately 50% MC.
Low/medium/high LEDs:
In the pin probe menu choose from:
Wood standards scales
Choose the international pin probe wood standard used in your region. (Example: Douglas Fir for the US).
Wood species scales
Select a specific wood species for more precise measurements based on these woods' density, or SG specific gravity. In settings/advanced features, turn on/off the pin temperature correction and EMC Expected Moisture Content features.
WME scale
The WME wood moisture equivalent scale is used from non-wood products on a relative scale of 0 to 99 (not a percentage).
Low/medium/high LEDs:
Drywall scale
Use the drywall scale for %MC moisture content measurements in drywall and gypsum board on a scale of 0 to 8.5%.
