The Schonstedt Maggie is a pistol-grip durable magnetic locator that is a combination of Schonstedt’s renowned sensitivity, precision, and reliability combined with the ease of single-handed operation. These improvements create a ferrous locator that is more accurate and easier to use. Maggie’s ergonomic design makes it the perfect choice for all locating professionals including surveyors, public works, utility companies, facilities management, construction and excavation, residential and commercial, electrical, and transportation departments to detect ferromagnetic objects located underground. The most common types of ferrous objects this can locate are cast or ductile iron pipes, corner markers, curb and valve boxes, reinforced septic tanks, steel pipes and manhole covers.

Schonstedt Maggie combines the best features of two flagship Schonstedt
products: the sensitivity and precision of the GA-52Cx, and the
single-handed operation of the GA-92XT. Schonstedt designed the new Maggie to build a magnetic locator that improved on the qualities and features that locating and survey professionals have always relied on. These features include an ergonomic gun-style handle making it easier and more comfortable for the operator to hold while working.
Schonstedt also updated the knobs to membrane switches on the control panel enabling single handed execution increasing the ease of operation.
Another change was the battery location. Previously, the electronics were exposed when installing a new battery. On Maggie, the battery is now located in the handle which avoids exposing the delicate electronics when changed. In addition, Maggie now comes in a soft carrying case with a shoulder strap, perfect for storing behind a truck seat.
The utility locator simultaneously uses both audio and visual indicators to communicate polarity, signal strength, and gain level to easily and accurately pinpoint a ferromagnetic object and its orientation. The battery life is usually 24 hours of intermittent use, but can vary with usage and temperature. Viewing the battery status is done by looking at the 4-segmented LCD battery indicator display.
This magnetic field detector is very easy to use. After turning it on, the user adjusts the sensitivity and volume level and walks with it in a sweeping motion across the ground. The user will be able to locate objects by listening for the audible signal emitted from the pin finder locator and examining the bar graph for additional locating guidance. The instruction manual gives the user additional guidance utilizing the audio and visual cues for locating ferrous materials in different types of situations.
The Schonstedt Maggie magnetic locator is made from high impact ABS material with a water and dust rating of IP54. The overall length is 32.5 in. and weighs approximately 2.6 lbs. The locator is operated with a single 9V battery.
