Sling Psychrometer

A sling psychrometer is a simple hygrometer that measures relative humidity, or RH. Traditional instruments consist of two thermometers, where regular one is mounted in the meter’s handle and the other contains a cloth wick that secures in piece that revolves or slings.When the sling moves, the thermometer measures wet bulb temperature.

Some manufacturers, such as Bacharach still make those handheld sling thermometers; however, most new psychrometers are digital instruments.As such they use sensitive temperature and RH sensors for taking readings.However, they are still called sling psychrometers to clearly identify the meter’s function.

The modern psychrometers come with a variety of options that might be needed for use in various fields.A service technician may choose from many of the following options: temperature and humidity range, data storage, data logging, internal vs. external probe, and NIST calibration certificate.
