This unit has a lot of different readouts and sensitivities. More versatile than some those cheaper units. If you need to be real precise in your locations this one gives you good options.

It was a bit on the spendy side, but i do like the digital display in ppm. Also, the ability to switch between modes can be useful.

I had an older leak detector and it was ok. This TPI 721 is really helpful with the display graph. Really helps to know when to adjust the sensitivity to narrow into your leaks.

The bar graph helps know the size of the leak you are dealing with and the thumbwheel is helpful to really zero in on the leak – especially in contaminated backgrounds.

This is my favorite leak detector I've used in the handheld class. Like everybody points out, it’s kind of goofy looking but the price is great and the ppm and graph display via digital screen makes it a high precision tool at a really low cost since it takes a good deal of the guesswork out of finding leaks. I recommend this one for sure

I’m a big fan of this detector. It does sort of look like a fish, which means nothing but it’s funny. As to the meter itself it rocks. Digital display takes all the guesswork out of knowing what ppm concentrations you’re dealing with. Sure, any loose and leaking combustible gas isn’t good but in addition to helping to pinpoint leaks faster, the digital display gives you an idea of the relative safety of the environment (and where you’re at with the LEL) that you just can’t get when you’re working blind with a screenless detector. Two big thumbs up here.
